Being a mom is physically exhausting

I've been home (in CA) now for one week, and am physically EXHAUSTED.  I have never felt like this before.  I get to 12 o'clock and I feel like I can't go on anymore. I put the kids down by 7 and want to crash at 7:30...it's terrible.  Mom's really are super-women, especially moms with twins.  Holy cow, twins are draining.  They suck all the energy right out from you.
However, even though I am exhausted (from driving to Las Flores elementary/middle school at least 4 or 5 times a day & taking care of the twins) and physically drained, I can't imagine anything I would rather be doing for the rest of my life.  I can't wait to be a mom... I mean, I can wait a good 5 years, but when the time is right, it's going to be great and so much fun.  I'll probably be tired 24/7 and finally understand why my parents never wanted to stay up past 8 o'clock, but it'll be wonderful. Being a mom is totally my thing.  I love being the chauffeur, the nanny, and the housekeeper.  Mind you, we've had families in the ward bringing us dinner almost every night so I haven't experienced everything having to do with being a mom, but what I have experienced I am excited for in the future.
I would MUCH rather be at home all day taking care of kids than be off at work all day.  I guess that's the wonderful thing about being married.  Men do much better at work and women are much better nurturers.  I'm extremely grateful I married a wonderful man who is going to work so I can stay home with the babes.  I know our children will benefit from it and it truly is an amazing blessing.  Props to the single moms out there who are doing it all.  I really have SO much respect for those women.  Anyway, only 3 more days and I get to see my wonderful, handsome, smart, romantic husband... I can't wait!  (I wish he was still here with me!)

  1. Tahnee,
I have rewritten this comment 5 times now. I just wanted you to know how wonderful I think you are. I remember thinking how practically perfect the Nielsen kids were, I think I was right. Bless your heart for stepping in and helping your mom and dad when they needed you. With you at home with the little ones, your mom could rest easy and start to heal. Your Dad could also have peace of mind, the greatest gift you can give. You're going to be a wonderful mother someday.
