Palmyra Part 2

During our second day in Palmyra we went to David Whittmer's farm (where a lot of the translation of the Book of Mormon was done), the Grandin Building, which was the place where the Book of Mormon was published, back to the Hill Cumorah to watch another great movie, and we made 2 quick stops at the Martin Harris farm (which is used for housing missionaries now), and the grave of Alvin Smith (Joseph's oldest brother).

 Tyler & Allie (with the help of the sister missionary) were able to make their own book the same way they used to do it back in the day.

We couldn't believe how much this picture of Oliver Cowdery resembled a certain player on the Lakers...

Palmyra Part 1

After Boston, we made our way back to PA (where Tanner & Allie live) stopping in Palmyra on our way.  To say it was cold would be nice...I was freezing!  I'm not sure if it's the fact that I am used to the AZ sunny weather or what, but I froze almost the entire time we were in Palmyra.  We drove into Palmyra in the afternoon, and stopped at the Smith's farm, which was also where the Sacred Grove is (more about our church here).  Following the Smith's farm, we made our way to the Hill Cumorah.  We walked up the hill and watched a short film in the visitors center.  It was an incredible feeling being in the same place where Joseph Smith received visions from heavenly beings, as well as the place where he received the plates.  I hope we are able to visit again soon...hopefully next time will be in the summer or fall though ;)

15-17. Dinosaur BBQ.  This place is in downtown Rochester, and was the perfect meal for the long day we had.  If you live near this area, and haven't been here, GO.  Everything was to die for!

Last of Boston

Here's the end of my Boston posts.  If you're wondering why I have so much time to just blog and blog, it's because I'm stuck in Mesa airport because of a flight delay.  I was supposed to take off at 3:20, and it's now 4:30, and we're not leaving for another 45 minutes.  Anyway, here's the last of my Boston posts.  We had such a great time, even though we were only there for less then 2 days.  Someday we'll make it back, and see even more of the city (maybe next time it will be in the fall when it's beautiful :).  These pictures are of us walking across a bridge to get to the USS Constitution and the Bunker Hill monument.  After seeing both of those sites, we headed over to where we started (kind of) on a ferry.

The bridge was a bit terrifying to me (you could see through the bottom of it!) 

This is us watching Pitch Perfect at 1:30 in the morning.  Lisa came in without us knowing, and those faces are the result of being surprised by the flash.
