Lisa's Birthday

This past weekend was my mother in laws birthday. We decided on Friday to head up to SLC for the night and check out Tanner and Allies new place. They recently moved into a main floor of a house. The house is old, but its pretty nice, and much better than their last place (and in a safer neighborhood). We had a good time just chatting, eating pizza and cake, and watching the Office. The next day we went golfing and had a blast. Towards the end it was getting tough because of the heat but we stuck it out and had a good time. Happy birthday Lisa!

The gift we got her is called, "Subway Art." There's a picture (more like writing) for whatever holiday you want and you change the frame depending on the holiday. We got here Valentine's day, Easter, Christmas, and then a filler one (one about home). It's a really cute idea and I stole it from my friend Caity.

We also had the pleasure of seeing Melissa Pitts this weekend...always a treat to see anybody from the Pitts family. She was here dropping Tanner off. We had dinner at Michelle and Trevors, and it was some of the best food we've had in a while.

2nd Anniversary

We celebrated our 2 year anniversary this past weekend! I seriously feel like I've always been married (in a good way). It's hard to even imagine my life before I met Tyler. We've had a good 2 years and hope to have many, many more. For our 2 years, we celebrated by going up to a friends cabin up in Timberlakes (past Heber) and just taking it easy. We watched 6 movies, did 2 1/2 puzzles, hit up the outlets (got my first day of school outfit), checked out the Olympic park (I've never been), and slept in until 10 both days...it was heavenly.

After the Triathlon

I blogged about our triathlon when it happened but I forgot to mention that we visited Grandma and Grandpa Tanner while in Idaho. We drove the 45 minutes to Blackfoot and stayed Saturday and some of Sunday to visit the grandparents. It was very relaxing and we enjoyed just lounging around. Sunday we took some more family shots (don't you just love them!) after we attended church.

Busy, busy time!

I've been really busy lately, which always leads to a lack of blogging. I hate doing catch-up but I love having a journal of everything we've done in the year. I'll try to keep everything as organized as possible.
First off, Jace got set apart as a missionary back in July. We had the setting apart, and then headed down to the Provo temple to get some family pictures before he went into the MTC the next day. We then had a delicious dinner, as usual, courtesy of Lisa :)

Jace gets really awkward (but I think he secretly likes it) when I get close to him, which makes it all the more fun to be close :)

The school year is here!

I started teaching on Monday. It still frightens me a little bit that I'm actually a teacher, a TEACHER, kind of scary. I am in charge of making sure 26 students learn the 5th grade material,e even though some are behind and some are wayyy ahead. My first day was overwhelming, frustrating, exhausting, anything to do with my patience being tried, etc. haha...I kept reading on everybody's (all of my 1st year teacher friends) facebook status' that they "loved teaching already," and "how grateful they were for there class." I started to think something was wrong because I wasn't having these same feelings. Luckily, Tuesday couldn't come soon enough. The second day (Tuesday) was SO much better. It wasn't that the kids were out of control the first day, or even bad at all, I just felt so overwhelmed and flustered. Today went pretty well too, and I'm hoping that each day gets better and the students start to understand the routine little by little. Fifth graders are funny though, to say the least. I really do enjoy this age, but at the same time, it's great birth control haha...well, at least I know I never want 26 10 year olds of my own. Anyway, I look forward to a good year and to many, many funny moments in Room 21.
