Happy Mother's Day!

A special shout out to my mom, and my mother-in-law Lisa.  A few pictures to help celebrate Mother's Day.

Weekending

This weekend we did a few things (already documented Friday night) worth noting.  Yesterday, Tyler studied for a good portion of the day, while I did P90x & cleaned our apartment.  Then, we both headed to the pool, and surprisingly lasted about 2 hours despite the almost 100 degree weather.  After that, we did what we've done every Saturday for a while, played tennis!  All I have to say is thank goodness the courts are in the shade after 3:30 isn, because it would most certainly be too hot to play if it wasn't shaded.  After tennis, we went to dinner at Charleston's with Chris & Emily, and were not disappointed.  Awesome food for a decent price.  We then headed over to Golfland, and rode the go-carts, and sweated like crazy because the go-carts were pretty warm.  And, of course, Flat Stanley joined us on all of our adventures (except tennis...darn it!).  He even snagged a picture with me today on our way to church.

Bowling

Last night, ATStill rented out part of the bowling alley in Gilbert for an end of the year get together, so we made our way over to the bowling alley for the first time since we've been here.  They also had a free buffet with food, so we had dinner, and played a couple games with our FHE group (we pretty much do everything with them).  I was winning all the way until the end, and ended up losing by 3 points...honestly, it was probably my best game of bowling ever.  I have some pictures here, but I'm still waiting on the group ones we took (the other girls have them).  Before we went bowling though, I received a letter from my brother, Gregory, about "Flat Stanley," who apparently thinks I am his aunt.  Anyway, we agreed to take care of Stanley while he's here, so we took him with us to the bowling alley.  After bowling, we headed over to Bahama Bucks for some shaved ice.

I was winning at one point :)

Oreo cake bites

I've gotten tons of compliments on my Oreo cake bites, which were not MY invention, just an awesome Pinterest find. I've made them what feels like 100 times, and I've learned a few tricks along the way.

Here's what you need:
One package of Oreos (double stuffed work the best)
Cream cheese (about 4oz)
Almond bark (vanilla flavored)

Here's what you do:
1. Grind/blend all the Oreos in a food processor
2. Mix the Oreos (now crushed) with the cream cheese in a bowl. Use your hands, and be sure to mix them all the way through.
3. Make round balls with the mixture and put them on a cookie sheet (I put wax paper down so they don't stick). One package makes about 25 balls.
4. Put the balls in the freezer for at least 20 minutes.
5. Microwave almond bark as the instructions say. I usually use 4 blocks for one package.
6. Dip the frozen Oreo balls into the almond bark, and place back on the pan.
7. Once they've all been dipped, put them in the fridge. The bark will only need a few minutes to harden, but they're better cold.

And there you have it...super easy, and they're bound to be a hit wherever you take them :)

Weekend happenings

I'm really starting to love the weather here, but unfortunately we live in the desert, and it will be in the 100s before we know it. Until that time, we're going to soak up all the sun we can before we melt away. Last weekend Ty studied for most of the day. He's in study mode, because he's got his big Boards test at the end of June. I tried to stay busy by cleaning, laying out by the pool (rough life I tell you), and exercising. After all that studying though, Ty and I went and played tennis, and then enjoyed the basketball game later that evening. We were party poopers though...we fell asleep before 10 on a Saturday night. Here's just a few pics to document the weekend...
