Cabin Trip, Easter, and Family Photos

Like I said in an earlier post, we went to a cabin this past weekend with Tyler's family.  The cabin is owned by one of Lisa's good friends, and she was kind enough to let us stay there ALL weekend.  It was fun to just hang out.  We played games, watched movies, dyed Easter eggs, did puzzles (well, most the family), went on a walk, I read my book, and we took family pictures (my FAVORITE thing ever...not!) Ever since I can remember, family pictures are stressful. Nobody can agree on what to wear, and somebody's hair always doesn't do what it's supposed to do, yadadadada.  I just don't really like taking family pictures.  Maybe when I have a family of my own, and I can be in control of what everybody wears and looks like, I'll enjoy it more...just maybe.  Anyway, the pictures turned out alright actually...not as bad as I was anticipating.  There is a lot of color in the picture, but that was the goal, so I think they turned out pretty good.  I really like the ones of Ty and I.  We took a few so we could send one out with our grad announcement (which I sent out TODAY).

When we got back from the cabin on Sunday (also Easter) we took MORE family photos.  I think part of the reason (well, I KNOW) that I hate pictures is because I am usually the tallest in the picture.  I'm the size of most men, and am ALWAYS taller than the girls, even if they are wearing heels, which in my opinion, all short girls should wear heals to church.  Just saying.  I wear heels, and I'm 6 feet tall.  Anyway, pictures went pretty well on Sunday, and after pictures, Derek was ordained a priest.  After that, we went to the Christensen's for some amazing "Geri dinner," followed by an entertaining Easter egg hunt, and yummy strawberry shortcake. Dinner at Geri's is always a good idea.

All in all, it was a good weekend, and it was nice to catch up with some family.  Enjoy some of the pics from the weekend below...

Recent Happenings

First off, I finished a great book, NieNie's book, "Heaven is Here."  I cried, laughed, and thoroughly enjoyed reading about her experiences.  It was nice to hear that she isn't "perfect," and I don't mean that in a bad way.  It's just nice to hear that she wasn't 100% positive and upbeat through her struggles...but to see what she's done with her life is incredible.  Anyway, if you haven't read it, I recommend getting it.  I read it on my Kindle, and loved it!

Next, we're MOVING.  I'm not sure if we've really ever announced it, but we will be moving to Mesa, AZ at the first of July.  However, we will be moving out of our apartment at the end of this month to move in with Tyler's mom to save some money on rent... Tyler was accepted to AT Still (not even sure if that's how you spell it...) for dental school, and he starts school on July 13th....goodbye summer!  We're very excited for a new chapter in our lives, and I am especially grateful that the school is somewhere WARM.  Bring on the heat...I'm so ready for it!  Tyler on the other hand is going to sweat bullets the whole summer, but luckily he will be inside with A/C most of the time.  As of right now, we're looking for good apartment complexes to live in, and SAFE neighborhoods.  If you're from Mesa and know of any good places to live let us know!

Lastly...well, there really isn't a "lastly," but we did go up to a cabin for the weekend with Tyler's family, and it was very enjoyable and relaxing.  I'll blog about that next though.  I've got lots of family pictures. 

Actually, I can think of a "lastly" now...I'm on Spring Break for the WHOLE week.  I made a to do list at the beginning of the week, and it feels so good checking things off.  It's nice to actually have time to do laundry, rather than leaving the clothes in the dryer until their all used again.  It's also nice to have time to deep clean, which our house was in need of... I love being home, if only this is how it always was...

Passover

No, we are not all of the sudden Jewish, but we did attend the Sader Service that takes place at BYU every year.  Tyler's mom bought the tickets, but were unable to go with the rest of the family so we went by ourselves.  We had a great table, and the people by us were very nice, and entertaining.  I've never been to a Sader (not even sure if I'm spelling that right...) Service, but basically it goes through the whole Passover event (at the start of Passover), and it took about 4 hours...  My first thought of the night was not all that great, but as the night went on, it turned out to be a great experience and we learned A LOT.  Of course right when we got there, I texted my best friend (and really, my only Jewish friend) Nicole to tell her what I was taking place in.  We went through the program, ate horseraddish (the boys about puked-I skipped out), which represent the "bitter herbs," and  "the tough times the Israelites" had, had matzha, had a wonderful dinner, sang a few songs, and enjoyed good company.

Clock wise: matzha, herosha (I think), and horseraddish.  The purple stuff is the "wine" (grape juice).  My portion of horseraddish was tiny compared to Tylers.  The herosha was actually pretty good (cut up apples, nuts, cinnamon, etc...)

City Creek

Last Friday Tyler and I went up to City Creek with Tiersha and Josh.  It was every bit as fantastic as everybody said it was.  However, almost every store was WAY out of my price range so I came home empty-handed, which I guess isn't a bad thing.  I'll have to return when the stores I like build a bigger sale rack.  Tiersha & I shopped while the boys walked around and watched the water show, which is said to be fabulous.  I look forward to going back soon (hopefully next week during Spring Break!!).
