A Few Things I Love

There are a few things that I REALLY love, and REALLY make me happy...
  1. coming home from school/work and seeing my hubby...I usually get about halfway through the day and wish he was there with me...and I love hanging out just the 2 of us
  2. movie theater popcorn...HEAVEN. I honestly don't usually go to the movies for the actual movie, just the popcorn
  3. Harry Potter...I can't wait until this July when the second part of book #7 comes out! You better believe we will be there at midnight opening night
  4. laying out at the beach on a HOT day...I'm needing one of these days SO bad...I'm pasty white and sick of the cold
  5. watching/playing basketball...when the playoffs are over our apartment will be very quiet, seeing as it's about the only thing we watch (besides Modern Family and The Office)
  6. playing with the twins-I can't wait for Thursday!
  7. the Gap...I will never quit b/c I'm obsessed!
  8. dresses/skirts to the knee...these are SO hard to find these days...I'm thinking I need to learn how to sew..ugh
  9. reading-a good book can have me hooked and paying no attention to anything else
  10. the Best Buy "new technology" commercial...hysterical
  11. "friday" music video...my husband turns it on at least 3 times every week
What makes you happy?

The latest

We've done a couple fun things in the past month or so. Nicole came to visit during my spring break, and unfortunately this is the only picture I got from those few days :( She definitely took more so I'll have to steal some from her sometime. I made Tyler take this picture right before we dropped her off at the airport.
In March we went to the "Traditions Ball" at BYU with Lisa & Shawn, Allie & Tanner, and Michelle & Trevor. This was our second time going and I thought it just got more fun. It was a really fun night with lots of dancing...not Tyler's favorite thing to do but he was such a good sport and danced with me all night. There was a lot of swing dancing, and even though Tyler and I had no idea what we're doing during "swing" songs we just made things up and had a good time.

I was able to help out with my friend Brittany's baby shower last week and it went great. There were TONS of people and she got plenty of great gifts. We're definitely going to miss her and husband when they move back to St. Louis at the end of the month, and most of all we'll miss the baby!

And lastly, I was able to help give my future sister in-law a bridal shower last weekend and it went great as well. It was at Lisa's house and we ate food, mingled (what women do best), opened presents, and learned a few things about Tanner & Allie from a video I got from Tanner (question/answer game-I know you've all seen at least one)
The beautiful cake made my Lisa's friend, KatherineAllie would kill me if she knew I posted this picture-she was terribly embarrassed by my gift :)
The Christensen clan-Shawn's sister, sister in-law, mom, sister, and Lisa
Allie's sister, mom, Allie, Lisa (my mother in-law), and me (excuse the fact that I am a GIANT next to these small ladies)

A Great Read

Have you ever read Esperanza Rising? If you haven't you should, it's a great book. I took a Children's Literature class last year and this was one of the books we had to read. I never read it in elementary school and had never even heard of it until I read it last year. I'm in a first grade class right now for my student teaching and we went the Book Fair today, which is where I spotted this book and was reminded of how much I loved it. It's a great story about a girl and her family who immigrated from Mexico to the United States. If you haven't read it yet do it! It's around 200 pages but it's a quick and easy read, and I guarantee you'll love it.
