Interesting Fact
So, I was reading my friend Sara's blog and she mentioned her left eye has been twitching lately. She found out that the reason for this can be stress. Well...like Sara, my left eye has been twitching for about a week now, maybe longer, and I have NO idea why. I'll be sitting in class, driving in the car, doing HW, whatever, and it happens. Anyway, I decided to look up online the causes of a twitching eye, and this is what I found...
1. Stress: reduce it
2. lack of sleep; sleep more
3. caffeine overdose: drink less tea coffee etc
4. potassium deficiency: Eat more foods rich in potassium like bananas.
Funny thing is that I hardly ever feel stressed; Tyler and I usually get about 7 hours of sleep each night (a healthy amount); I rarely drink soda, let along caffeine; but I don't tend to eat bananas all that often (maybe once or twice a week).
Even funnier thing is that this week every single one of those things has been reversed: I've felt stressed (a million things to do before I go into field); I was up until 12:30 twice this week finishing an art project (and got up at 6 am); drank a coke TWICE this week (this may not be a lot to some people but for me it's a TON); and I've eaten a banana almost everyday.
It all makes sense now (except for the banana part). We're going to Idaho this weekend though so I'm hoping it will eliminate stress. I owe all of these findings to Sara!

A Great Stake Conference

This weekend we had the privilege of having stake conference. Elder Jay E. Jensen (in the presidency of the quorum of the seventy) as well as Elder Lund (of the fifth quorum of the seventy) came and spoke to our stake both Saturday and Sunday sessions. The biggest reason they were in attendance was that our stake presidency was being released. Let me just start by saying we have the greatest stake presidency. They are amazing men who truly are sincere and are absolutely chosen men of God. Tyler and I have enjoyed hearing them speak each time they have come to our ward.
Saturday night session was quite a unique experience in that it was a "question/answer" setup. Our stake presidency bore their testimonies and then Elder Jensen proceeded to guide the "question/answer" portion of the night. There were some really good questions and it was really cool to hear Elder Jensen's answers. Elder Lund then gave his testimony followed by Elder Jensen. I honestly felt like I could've listened to these men speak all night. They were great speakers. I sometimes find myself bored with speakers during stake conference, and sometimes find myself even falling asleep. However, when they got up to speak I found myself attentive and wanting to listen. It was a great night.
This morning's session was another really good session. The new stake presidency was called and the new & old presidencies bore their testimonies. After which Elder Lund and Elder Jensen addressed us again. A few things stuck out to me during Elder Jensen's talk...(some of the quotes are not exactly what he said but I did the best I could to write it down accurately)
- "Your increase in faith will not come until you have had a trial/been tested of your faith."
- Children should not be spoiled; they are not entitled to things everytime they are in a bind; make children sacrifice an appropriate amount
- Don't be critical of Peter (in the Bible); remember him as the "rock"
- "The minute you take your eye off the Savior, you sink."
Just a side note: Tyler mentioned that he came to his mission and spoke Spanish beautifully. He also said that he asked Tyler to play the piano throughout his talk and the missionaries sang several songs during the duration of his talk.
